celebrity crush

i have a not-so-secret celeb crush.
his name is mark- feuerstein that is.
i know, he's married with three kids (one of their names is cisco) really mark?? really? cisco???
look at that face!!! doesnt he just make you happy?
i first discovered him in the movie "in her shoes," where he plays a sensitive and nerdy (but hot) attorney. this weekened, i was wanting some mark in my life, so i looked on tv to see if "in her shoes" was on demand. it was. this discovery made my day!

since all of my friends know about my love, someone got me a mark feurerstein bobble head doll. it sits on my desk and makes me so happy (mark is the one with the briefcase, as he plays a dr. on another show i love, royal pains). i know i wouldnt watch it unless mark was on it, because the show isnt even that good, i just love him so.

since he's already taken, i guess i will just have to find my own jewish, nerdy (but cool), prince.

ps- i will leave you with one more pic for your viewing pleasure (oh hello marky!!):

thursday product review: the lip scrub and lip slip by sara happ

i have found a miracle product, thanks to my friend lissy!
i was with her this weekend at a wedding, as she told me that i had to try this amazing product!
it is called the lip slip  and the lip scrub by sara happ.
(their website seems to be down, but you can buy them on amazon!)
so, before our late night dallas cheesy fries, we went to her hotel room and went to work on our lips!!!

(mmmm cheesy fries- soo good that they deserved a picture)

it consists of an amazingly yummy lip scrub (you will want to eat it), soo good!!! and an equally yummy lip balm. i swear, my lips felt amazing for days!!!

lissy has the brown sugar flavor, and it was incredibly tasty, but you can also buy: cocoa, creme brulee, vanilla bean, peppermint, almond creme, and cinammon sugar.

(virgin lips)
(sad virgin lips)
(happy and soft lips after the scrub and balm- see what a different it makes?!?!?!)

i want it in every flavor!!! such a great hanukah present/ stocking stuffer! (hint, hint)

thursday product review: anti-aging creme

i know, im only 27, but a girl's got to start her anti-aging regimen early, right?
well, i needed a new moisturizer and figured, what the hell, some anti- aging stuff wont hurt.
so, i went into cvs and got really confused in the lotion/moisturizer/anti-aging aisle.

why are there so many options??

i dont remember why i picked what i picked, but im sure i had seen it somewhere/ it was decently priced, (not spending $50 on loreal at cvs when i can spend that on lancome). soooo drum roll please...... i really love my l'oreal collagen moisture filler!

my first test of any product is the smell. this smells really good and fresh. it also has sunscreen, which is a must for white gals such as myself. and i think it works. well, i really dont know, but it makes me feel good.

(these guys are cute, but i dont want to be wrinkly like them!)

milkshake for dinner

i dont know what has been with my dinners recently. monday night, desiree brought over ben and jerrys new york chocolate chunk ice cream. HIYM (heaven in your mouth)- thanks pam for that gem of a term =)! it is just so amazing- this is why i dont buy ice cream. amanda and i are going to have to fight for the last bit of it! desiree insisted that she leave the brie AND leftover ice cream. just what we (I) need. case in point why i cant have it around!

it gets worse, or maybe better depending on your opinion,

then last night i had a milkshake for dinner. no kidding. it was AMAZING, let me tell you.
i wasnt too hungry before class, so i stopped in at coffee bean in the student union, and then saw the carls jr. sign. omg the orea cookie shake- it was calling my name. so i went for it. and i didnt even feel fat after. all my friends/family are probably thinking that this is very weird for me and my current jenny craig diet, but whatever, im branching out.

maybe ill have a burger tonight. hmm. prob not.

ps- if you're in la and like new workouts, get this groupon for burn60!

physique 57

in my continuous search for new, different, and hard workouts, i recently found one of the best!
it is called physique 57, located in beverly hills, and is supposedly how kelly ripa got her toned body (she probably also doesnt eat, but that's just a small detail).

it is basically like the bar method or pure barre, but on crack. there were actually men in the class! it was really fast paced, with 2 different instructors yelling out the moves and coming by to check form. it was non-stop- absolutely not one moment for boredom. the hour (oops, 57 minutes), starts with a weight workout, in which i was in sweating in no time, and then continues to the bar.

i was sore later on that day (and THOUGHT i was pretty in-shape). it is now 2 days later and i am still sore (proof of an awesome workout.) if you live in ny or la, you should try it!!

ps- they give you a free tape measure so you can track how much your body has changed= fab!

thursday product review: top 10 places to eat in brentwood

since i love my neighborhood so much, i thought i would give a review of my fave brentwood places to eat/drink:

1- new york bagel
this is the place to be in brentwood on sun. morning!!
any egg plate comes with sooooo much food. definitely a good deal for your money. you get the eggs, a side, and a huge bagel!! the bagels are really good as well. personally, i think they are better than noah's down the street.
all in all, really good weekend atmosphere. a down-to-earth coffee shop with a ny vibe and a brentwood feel!

 2- katsuya
BAKED CRAB HAND ROLL. 'nuff said. soo good.
yes, it's over priced, yes the original in studio city is the best, but whatever, the brentwood location is really good.
the seared ahi tuna with crispy onions and the spicy tuna on crispy rice are so freakin' good too.
you gotta go.

3- freshii
in the words of my brother circa 2005- i just made a salad that was pretty bomb at freshii! love it there! and was pleasantly surprised by the non-brentwood prices. for a little more than $6 i got a really big salad with basically all the veggies i like! (and i got at least got 10 extra veggies, which were all included in the price!) this salad would have been double the price if i got it at whole foods across the street, which i do often. well, no more!! i will definitely be back to try the myriad of other food options. the place was clean and the staff was friendly ( a little too friendly for my boring paper-writing mood, but i wont hold that against them). yay for a great new place in brentwood!

4- cabo cantina
cabo is great- you get what you pay for. great, cheap margs during happy hour, drunk college guys form ucla, and a great place to people watch and watch laker games. their happy is from 4-8! so great. and their greasy bar food is exactly that! nachos= amazing. dont go if you dont want a loud college-y atmosphere, greasy food, and your hair to smell like smoke when you leave. do go there if you dont mind all of the above! just a great, casual, neighborhood spot.

5- brentwood farmers market
love the brentwood farmers market!!!!! it is a sunday ritual for me, yoga at lululemon and then the farmers market! i get sad when i wake up late or i am too busy to go the farmers market! personally, i think the prices are great, and most of the fruit stands have tasters, so i leave the market being full from all the fruit i have eaten! also, there are lots of beautiful flower stands, as well as a lot of cooked food as well (go for the banana and chocolate crepe- so good). i sadly, have never seen a celebrity at the farmers market, but thanks to US Weekly, they are apparently always around!!

6- bandera
2 words. macho salad. bandera and la scala are tied for best salad in la. who doesnt like turkey, goat cheese, and dates all mixed in a salad together? OMG. so good. go now. I crave this salad on a weekly basis-luckily i live in walking distance. it's also a good date place and quite the after-work scene on weeknights.

7- clay pit
I have never met an indian food i didnt like, however, clay pit is the best indian food i have EVER. The typical indian food fare (naan, chicken tikka, etc) is just so good and well prepared. i have never had a bad waiter there, and they almost always have given me extra dessert, or something else from the kitchen to taste.
if you dont want an expensive meal, dont go out to eat in brentwood.
if you want fab indian food- go to clay pit.

8- nagao
Nagao is great for quick, cheap(er) sushi. It's the only sushi place where I get a salad because the Spicy Tuna salad is amazing!! It is huge and great for lunch. A little on the spicier side (duh), but I think the dressing contributes to the spiciness, so next time I am going to ask for it on the side. The rolls are great too. LOVE IT!

9- the brentwood
PERFECT date spot. A tad pricey, but pretty worth it if you want a cozy and fun date  place or to have drinks with friends. You can eat at the bar if you can't get a table or do not have a reservation. Love their chopped salad and their flat iron steak is FAB. Slightly older crowd, which is different for Brentwood, and extremely classy. A definite if you love comfort food in a down-to-earth, but still very LA atmosphere. Tip- park in the dog park parking less than a block away.

10- la scala
La Scala is just A- MA-ZING. I have never had a bad meal there. They really do have the best salad in LA- hands down. Their pasta with meat sauce is great, their chopped salad is great, and half of the time, you are sure to get a low-key celeb citing. A little pricey but is so worth it. Tip: plenty of street parking if you don't want to pay the $2 to park for dinner.

dry bar

 love dry bar!

dry bar is the best invention ever. i was so excited when i heard it was coming to brentwood.
the idea is simple: for $35, you get a wash and blow dry AND you get to choice between 5 different styling options! (i usually get a cross between the southern comfort and the cosmo).
they also offer you champagne (LOVE IT) or water and play a fun, girly movie in the background.
dry bar has recently expanded from brentwood to studio city and west hollywood, and is soon opening in pacific palisades and newport!

amanda and i went to the new dry bar location in weho this weekend and had another great experience!

(my cute hair stylist angelina in her "present" halloween costume, before pic of me= gross)
(after pic= 400x better)
(amanda and me!)

(how cute is the brentwood location? love the yellow and white decor)

i wish i could go to dry bar everyday!

xoxo, e
